April 13 2009: phiLight delivers SharperLight 2.1. A flexible and dynamic Business intelligence toolset that enables users to create intuitive and interactive reports both in Microsoft Excel and in SQL Server Reporting Services, with live drilldown to transactions through a fully dynamic Business Intelligence layer wrapped in a .net Data Provider. 

March 3rd 2009:  Query Engine now has support for Output Filtering and Ranking using a new pattern based on Server Side processing.  These features enable reporting where columns have their own unique criteria such as reporting by months, quarters or an Aged Debtors Report.  Ranking is a powerful technique that will allow data to be grouped based on a condition. For example, de minimis where Sales are below a certain amount    

February 20th, 2009:  Live dynamic drilldowns from Reporting Service Reports demonstrated. These Dynamic Drilldowns can be on any criteria and should not be confused with pre-prepared Drill Throughs 

Perth - February 9th, 2009  Demo materials and multiple DataModels available for trial. DataModels over Microsoft Dynamics, Great Plains, Pay Global and others are in active and parrallel development.

Perth - February 9th, 2009  SharperLight Report BI now includes Writeback Solutions and Drilldown Explorer in an XBAP application not limited to the reporting client.

Perth - January 17th, 2009  Addition of new training videos covering subjects such as Excel report writing, Query Builder filtering and output options, Installation of DataModels, Connection and Service Setup.

Perth - January 4th, 2009 - Today Version 2 of the SharperLight BI solution has been released.

 Over the next few weeks PhiLight will demonstrate the solution to a number of vendors over popular products in the financial sectors for easy reporting for the end user.

 Version 2 has a number of enhancements specifically geared toward report server integration and web deliver, solution writeback in Visual Studio and mashup solutions delivering multiple datastores to a central location.

The delivery incliudes: 

SharperLight DataModel Studio:  A powerful DataModel development tool used to easily create enduser accesible schema definitions.

Sharperlight XL Addin: an End User tool to consume DataModels, a central location to report and pool data for adhoc analysis. So easy for decision makers to get the data required to make decisions.

SharperLight Remote Service:  Truly inspirational technology. Allows Excel to consume remote DataModels, offering a distributed architecture for remote XL clients and a tiered architecture.

Security and Encryption: Security models are adapted to undelying products with support for pass through authentication. Transimissions and data can be additional encrypted between application tiers.

WriteBack Solutions: Using Visual Studio IDE, solution wirteback is easily debugged.

A soft abstraction layer is the key to adequate and flexible reporting. An abstraction layer that can be moulded to multiple sources and shifted around in a single file, easy to use and understand. Anything fixed just can't cut it.
